Conroe, Texas, man buys Maid Right house cleaning master franchise
Conroe, Texas (January 28, 2016): Chad McKay spent nearly 20 years in the gas and oil industry fighting through the ups and downs of the volatile industry. After serving in mainly operations roles throughout several organizations, McKay finally decided he wanted more control of his future. To make that dream come true, McKay decided last summer to invest in and become the master franchisee for Maid Right cleaning services.
Although he had considered business ownership for awhile, he couldn’t find the ideal option. McKay considered investing in fast food franchises, but felt those wouldn’t allow him the kind of operational freedom he wanted. However, he understood the inherent advantages of a franchised system and sought opportunities to learn more about his franchising options.
As luck and a little bit of fate would have it, McKay attended a franchising seminar in downtown Houston where he met Diana Trondsen, the owner of FranNet-South Texas.
“When I attended the seminar and met Diana, she helped me look at a number of different options,” said McKay. “Franchising just seemed to be a more stable and secure business option. Working with her, she helped me understand the franchising process and what businesses may be a good fit for me.”
FranNet’s Trondsen works with would-be entrepreneurs to aid in their search for a franchise business and sort through the abundance of information available, as well as steps necessary to open a business. Working through Trondsen, McKay took a personal franchise assessment (PFA), a sort of personality test of his business acumen. The assessment looks at a person from many facets, including focusing on their behavior profile, risk tolerance and financial background. These attributes are combined with what FranNet has learned in the marketplace over the 28 years it’s been in business to identify franchises in which McKay would do well.
Although presented with a handful of options, Maid Right quickly rose to the top. Coupled with what he learned about the Maid Right master franchising opportunity through Trondsen, the more it seemed to fit with his business plan.
“The master franchise opportunity was a big pull,” McKay explained. “Being able to establish my business in a high-growth market like Conroe allows me to grow my business, and help others start and grow theirs.”
As the master franchisee for the market, McKay is in charge of identifying and onboarding new Maid Right franchisees to help him fill his market. They would be independent Maid Right franchise owners like McKay, but McKay also provides the localized support for those new franchisees.
And the cleaning industry is one that is booming. According to the company’s website, Maid Right is a part of a $50 billion business that has grown by 66 percent over the past decade. The U.S. franchise segment is a $2.2 trillion industry comprised of 825,000 individual franchisees who support 20 million employees. McKay wants to be a part of that growth as a business owner.
“What’s great about business ownership is that I’m now going into work to see my business grow, as opposed to going to work to get a paycheck,” reasoned McKay. “I knew Maid Right was the right one as it ‘felt right.’ It’s extremely fulfilling. Now I’m looking to help others fulfill their business dreams with Maid Right.”
